The tsimbl was once a very common instrument in European "klezmer" bands well into the 2nd decade of the 20th Century. Unfortunately, with the influence of American jazz, the subtle sound of the tsiml was overshadowed by the clarinet and brass intstruments. In this excellent, recording Pete Rushefsky (tsimbl) and Elie Rosenblatt (violin) perform 18 selections from the early part of the 20th Century and two original pieces in the same style. The performers attribute each selection to "original" recordings and transcripionsby such artist as ; Leon Ahl, Wolff Kostakowsky, Abe Schwartz, etc. This is an excellent re-creation of long forgotten recordings
