Order #: 01353 What a beautiful recording this is! Originally release in 1962, this classic recording features 19 traditional Yiddish folk songs and one in Hebrew by the husband and wife duo. Raasche was originally trained in classical music, Alan Mills was a police reporter for a Montreal newspaper whose hobby was singing and collecting folk music.These songs are beautifully performed with only a guitar accompaniment. As with all Folkways recordings, a reprint of the original 8 page inserts is included with lyrics in phonetic Yiddish and English as well as simple melody line. Highly recommended.
