Order #: 01380 Shumel Malavsky was born in 1894 in the little town of Smela, in Ukraine. Upon his arrival in the United States in 1914, he was taken under the patronage of the great Cantor, Yossele Rosenblatt. The pair performed in many concerts and recorded some of their famous duets. Eventually, Malavsky became quite well known on his own, served as chief cantor in many great synagogues. This video/DVD, features The Malavsky Family singers, also known as The Singers of Israel--including his 4 daughters and 2 sons--in performing some of their most famous renditions in Cantorial, Yiddish and Israeli song. 50 Minutes
