SUNG IN POLISH: Polish Tangos on a Jewish Music web site? Why not, especially since the majority of these artists, who intorduced and popularized the tango in Poland, were Jewish. As with the very popular Populare Judische Kunstler series, which feature the most popular German cabaret and recording artists in Germany prior to 1936, the importance of Jewish artists to the popular culture of these countries now finaly being recognized on CD collections. Though these selections were recorded over 70 years ago, they, and the artists are still very well know to this day in Poland. From The Booklet: Approaching this collection, we joined an important part of Poland's cultural history that was almost comlpletely deleted from public knowledge by World War II and it's conclusions...the great majority of the artists involved{were) of Jewish descent. An excellent recording.
