Order #: 01038 Bobov, a tiny village in West Galicia, was the home of a remarkable Chassidic dynasty of rebbes, known not only for their personal magnetism,and dedication to the education of youth but also for their great tradition of music. Bobover neginah began oneday,tradion has it, when the first rebbe, Rabbi Shelomo Halberstam, called his only son, six year old Ben Zion, and told him to begin the study of Mishle (Proverbs). As he came to the 15th verse--"B'ni" he started to hum a tune to himself, and thus was born the first Bobover nigun, to be folllowed by hundreds of others.This "authentic' recording of the Bobover Nigunim , originally released in 1963 features Rabbi Halberstam accompanied by Chassidic Choir--directed by Velvel Pasternak, and the musical accompaniment of the Rudy Tepel Orchestra. The accompanying 15 page booklet contains English translations of the nigunim. A second volume of Bobover Nigunim by Rabbi Halberstam is also available.
